Common beginner mistakes

Avoid the mistakes most new adventurers make, from leaving Beginner Island too early to sitting next to monsters.

  1. Leaving Beginner Island with quests unfinished. The island quests are cancelled when you sail to the mainland or enter Aeven. Hand them in first.
  2. Staying a Peasant. Peasants get no damage, accuracy, evade or defense from their stats. Visit the Wise Man in Aeven and choose a class as soon as you get there (Classes).
  3. Not spending stat points. Every level gives 3 stat points. Open the character window (C) and spend them in the Stats tab.
  4. Sitting down near monsters. A sitting player is hit by every attack. Only sit when you are safe.
  5. Turning your back. Hits from behind or the side are critical hits (50 % more damage), for monsters and for you.
  6. Carrying too much. When your bag is too heavy you cannot attack. Sell or bank loot regularly.
  7. Selling quest items. Check an item's wiki page before selling: Needed for shows quests that use it.
  8. Junking by accident. Junk destroys an item for good; Drop puts it on the ground.
  9. Leaving loot behind. A monster's drop is reserved for you for 30 seconds, then anyone can take it.
  10. Walking into level-locked areas too early. Paths that need a higher level simply do not let you through, and dangerous areas are full of aggressive monsters. The location pages show level limits and monster strength.
  11. Sharing your password. Staff will never ask for it. Report anyone who does.
