Every character starts as a Peasant. Peasants get no combat bonus from their stats, so choosing a class is one of the first things to do in Aeven.
Choosing your class
Find the Wise Man in the centre of Aeven. Talk to him and pick Class menu, then Make me Priest, Magician, Rogue, Archer or Warrior. It is free and immediate, and you can come back and choose again whenever you like.
He also has a Karma menu: you can give yourself 10 or 100 karma, or take 10 or 100 away.
The classes
| Warrior | Strong melee fighter | +2 STR | STR | AGI |
| Rogue | Quick fighter, best evade | +2 AGI, +2 CON | STR (less) | AGI |
| Archer | Ranged attacks with bows | +2 AGI | STR (little) | AGI |
| Magician | Attack spells | +2 WIS | INT | WIS |
| Priest | Healing spells | +2 INT | INT | WIS |
The exact numbers are in Combat. Some spells can only be learned by Priests or Magicians; see Spells & skills.
- Peasant every new character
- Priest choose at the Wise Man
- Magician choose at the Wise Man
- Rogue choose at the Wise Man
- Archer choose at the Wise Man
- Warrior choose at the Wise Man
- Summoner
- High Priest
Warrior is the easiest start: put points into STR for damage and CON for HP. Because you can change class at the Wise Man at any time, you can try another later.
