Every character starts as a Wanderer without a home town. At an inn you can become a citizen of that town. Your home decides where you reappear after being defeated and where a Scroll Of Recall takes you.
Becoming a citizen
Talk to the innkeeper and choose Become Citizen. You have to answer three questions about the town; if any answer is wrong, you can try again. You can Give Up Citizenship later.
