What is an aura?

An aura is an animated effect around your character: orbiting stars, dancing flames, butterflies, crackling lightning, falling feathers and more. Each aura also gives your character a softly glowing outline in its colour, and at night it lights up the ground around you.

Auras are purely cosmetic. They never change your stats, speed, experience or anything else in a fight. They are there to look amazing, and everyone near you sees the aura you wear.

You keep every aura you collect for good. You wear one at a time and can switch whenever you like.

Earning auras in play

  • Dungeon treasure: when your party clears a dungeon and you earned the full reward, you may find its aura. Every member gets their own chance.
  • Monster drops: Hollowmaw can drop the Shadowflame aura while the Halloween event is on. Only the player who lands the final blow gets the chance.
  • The Adventure Board: Nature's Blessing is one of the Adventure Reputation rewards. Claim it at the board once you reach 2,000 reputation.

You can never get the same aura twice. A chance only counts for auras you don't have yet.

Buying auras

Auras cost Alduin Coins, the same coins you use at the Alduin Market. You can buy them:

  • in the Aura Collection window, from anywhere, or
  • from the Alduin Merchant in Aeven's town square, on the Auras tab of Alduin Market.

The price is always the same in both places. The aura is unlocked the moment you buy it.

Wearing an aura

  1. Open the Aura Collection: press Auras in the side menu, or the ✦ Auras button in your character window.
  2. Every card shows the aura live on your own character. Pick one to see it big, with its rarity and how to get it.
  3. Press Wear. Everyone around you sees it straight away. Press Take off to wear none.
  4. Not sure yet? Try it on shows any aura on your character for 20 seconds. Only you can see a try-on.

Your aura stays on when you log out, warp, change maps or respawn.

Settings

Under Settings › Graphics › Auras:

  • Aura effects: Full, Reduced or Auto (Auto uses Reduced on phones and small screens). Reduced draws fewer particles.
  • Show other players' auras: switch it off to see only your own.

In a big crowd the game draws other players' auras a little lighter by itself, so everything stays smooth.
